The ‘Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn‘ was founded in 1872. The Stazione Zoologica is among the top research institutions in the world in the fields of marine biology and ecology. The SZN carries on advanced research on the biology, ecology and evolution of marine organisms. A core activity of the SZN is the higher education and formation of young scientists to lead pure and applied research. The Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn has always had a long tradition in the organisation of International Summer Schools. Last in date: the ‘First International Summer School on Extreme Environments: from Ecology to Biotechnology’, Sicily Marine Centre, September 2023.
