Based on the work, since 1993, of an international group of educators involved in Environmental Education, the International Network in Environmental Education “Polis” acquired the status of a non profit organisation, based in Greece, in 1996. Since then, Polis has organised and participated in numerous international research and action projects, involving partners from all continents: editing of an international news bulletin distributed in 60 countries (1996-2001), the ‘Charter of Human Responsibilities’ (2004-2010), the ‘Forum on Ethics and Responsibility’ (2011-2014), the ‘Alliance for Responsible and Sustainable Societies’ (2015-2019), as well as in several projects supported by the European Union.
